Recippy · Last updated 4 October 2026

Recippy is a recipe book for iPhone, made by Jack Li (“we”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app. For privacy questions, email support.recippy@icloud.com.

We don’t collect your recipes

We do not run a server that stores your recipes, shopping list, or profile. We do not sell personal information, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

On your device

Recippy stores, on your iPhone, the recipes you save (including titles, ingredients, steps, categories, notes, and photos you add), your shopping list, your meal plan, the name you enter, your companion and other settings. That information stays on the device unless you turn on iCloud sync or share a collection, as described below. Deleting a recipe, clearing your book, or deleting the app removes the copy stored on that device.

iCloud sync

Recippy Plus can sync your book, recipe photos, shopping list, name, and settings through Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit), into the private database of the Apple ID signed in on the device. Apple holds that data. We cannot read your private iCloud database. You can turn sync off in Settings. You can also remove Recippy’s iCloud data from the iOS Settings app.

Sync uses Apple’s push service so a change on one device can reach your others. We do not operate our own notification service, and we do not send promotional notifications.

Shared collections

If you share a collection, the recipes you place in it are shared through iCloud with the people you invite. Those people can see those recipes. Apple handles the invitation and the share. You can stop sharing from the app.

Camera and photos

If you take a photo of a cookbook page or a handwritten recipe, Recippy reads the text on your device and turns it into ingredients and steps. If you choose a photo from your library, it is saved with that recipe. We do not receive the pictures.

Microphone

If you turn on messy-hands control, the microphone listens while cook mode is open so Recippy can hear “next”, “back”, and “repeat”. Turning those words into text uses Apple’s speech recognition, which may send the audio to Apple. Recippy does not keep a recording and does not receive the audio. Apple’s handling of that audio is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Importing a link

When you paste a link, or share a page into Recippy, your device downloads that page so the recipe can be read from it. The request goes to the website you chose. We do not receive a copy. That website can see that your device requested the page.

Purchases

Recippy Plus and tips are sold by Apple through the App Store. We do not see your card number or billing address. Apple tells the app whether a subscription is active. Apple’s payment terms are in Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Suggestions you choose to send

If you send a feature idea from the app, it leaves your device only through the Mail app or the share sheet, which you control. The message contains the text you write, the topic you pick, the Recippy version, and the device model and iOS version.

Children

Recippy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change. The address of the page stays the same.
